Good location
The room was clean and beds are good. Good value for money in Singapore. Good location close walking distance to many sights.
Toilets are old, looked like under construction and need more cleanliness. Lack of common areas.

It was my first time staying in a hostel and I am glad that...
It was my first time staying in a hostel and I am glad that this place was my first. It was a very pleasant experience. Loved the view from the pantry at level 5 and the areas around the hostel. A lot of halal restaurants around and a cute beautiful mosque in walking distance (a great benefit for muslim travellers). The hostel is clean and comfortable to stay in. We had our breakfast at a nearby cafe that opened as early as 8am. It's nice to wake up early to explore the area as it is not crowded, though most of the restaurants are still closed.
My travel mate had to switch to a mixed dorm when we paid for a female-only dorm. She could choose to wait for a bed in the female-only dorm to be vacant, but she took the mixed dorm out of exhaustion. I guess better management and system that confirms the vacancy and occupancy of each bed are needed. Staff needs to make sure that the reserved bed is vacant before the next guest is checking in. Guests too needs to cooperate with the staff should they need to check out late by informing the staff beforehand. I think the lock to the female only dorm is not working and that since it's a female only dorm, i think it is preferable that only female staff can enter to do all the cleaning. Some muslim female travellers may not be well covered inside dorm should any male staff were to enter.

It was fine. Good value for money.
The location
If you check in late, you need to call someone from another hotel to give you details on how to get your key card.... the thing is we just landed in and we dont have a local sim and all shops are closed... we end up waiting and decided to go to the other hotel which is a bit far.. luckily a guest came in and helped us out..

Good deal for its price!
I especially liked its location and proximity to the MRT. Bed was comfortable too. Water supply and heating was good in the bathrooom. WiFi connection is good.
Family room was at the 4th floor, wheeled luggage was quite difficult to manage.
